Real wastewater, real results

A selection of jar tests by our technical team on wastewater from plants across Malaysia: what the problem was, how we treated it, and what we achieved. Customer names are kept confidential.

  • Pipe coating plant: wastewater before treatmentbefore
Pipe coating plant: wastewater after treatmentafter

    Fluoride

    220 mg/L→0.24 mg/L

    Case 01 · Pipe coating plant · May 2026

Fluoride removed to well within discharge limits Jar test

    The issue
Acidic process wastewater (pH 2.6) carrying high fluoride (220 mg/L) and suspended solids (486 NTU).
  • Metal surface-treatment chemicals plant: wastewater before treatmentbefore
Metal surface-treatment chemicals plant: wastewater after treatmentafter

    Nickel

    13.89 mg/L→0.23 mg/L

    Photos: 2026 follow-up test.

    Case 02 · Metal surface-treatment chemicals plant · June 2025

Chelated nickel brought within the Standard B limit Jar test

    The issue
Nickel in the wastewater was locked in chelated complexes that ordinary coagulation cannot remove, so the effluent kept failing the DOE Standard B nickel limit of 1.0 mg/L.
  • Silica sand processing plant: wastewater before treatmentbefore
Silica sand processing plant: wastewater after treatmentafter

    Fluoride

    152 mg/L→5.4 mg/L

Case 03 · Silica sand processing plant · February 2026

Fluoride cut by 96% in pickling-plant wastewater Jar test

    The issue
Wastewater from the acid pickling plant carried 152 mg/L of fluoride along with orange suspended solids.
  • Rubber latex processing plant: wastewater before treatmentbefore
Rubber latex processing plant: wastewater after treatmentafter

    Turbidity

    > 1,000 NTU→1.92 NTU

Case 04 · Rubber latex processing plant · January 2026

Milky latex wastewater cleared to under 2 NTU Jar test

    The issue
Combined latex and final-discharge wastewater was milky white, with turbidity above 1,000 NTU.
  • Halal food industrial park: wastewater before treatmentbefore
Halal food industrial park: wastewater after treatmentafter

    pH

    3.9→6.7

Case 05 · Halal food industrial park · September 2026

Acidic wastewater neutralised and cleared Jar test

    The issue
Wastewater in the treatment plant's aeration tank had turned strongly acidic and cloudy.
  • Snack food factory: wastewater before treatmentbefore
Snack food factory: wastewater after treatmentafter

    pH

    4.3→6.1

    Case 06 · Snack food factory · January 2026

Acidic, cloudy wastewater prepared for flotation Jar test

    The issue
Acidic, cloudy wastewater above 800 NTU was feeding the plant's dissolved air flotation (DAF) unit.
  • Aircraft maintenance facility: wastewater before treatmentbefore
Aircraft maintenance facility: wastewater after treatmentafter

    Turbidity

    90.5 NTU→0.73 NTU

    Case 07 · Aircraft maintenance facility · August 2026

Cloudy wastewater cleared to under 1 NTU Jar test

    The issue
White, cloudy wastewater in the equalisation tank.
  • Semiconductor plant: wastewater before treatmentbefore
    Semiconductor plant: wastewater after treatmentafter

    Turbidity

    672 NTU→12.4 NTU

    Case 08 · Semiconductor plant · January 2024

Slurry that presses easily, with clear filtrate Jar test

    The issue
Fine slurry had to be separated in a filter press.
  • Dairy plant: wastewater before treatmentbefore
    Dairy plant: wastewater after treatmentafter

    Turbidity

    125 NTU→18.5 NTU

    Case 09 · Dairy plant · January 2026

Just enough treatment to protect the biology Jar test

    The issue
Solids had to be removed ahead of the DAF unit without stripping out the organics that feed the biological reactor (SBR) downstream — so the target was just enough clarification, not the clearest possible water.
  • Chemical plant: wastewater before treatmentbefore
    Chemical plant: wastewater after treatmentafter

    pH

    11.5→6.0

    Case 10 · Chemical plant · May 2026

Strongly alkaline wastewater neutralised and cleared Jar test

    The issue
A mix of high- and low-concentration process streams was strongly alkaline and milky.

Results are from laboratory jar tests on samples of each plant’s own wastewater. Results at full scale depend on the plant and its operating conditions.
